Running Well Requires the Right Equipment

With Springer Mountain in Georgia marking the beginning - or end - of the popular Appalachian trail, it's a state where many runners enjoy the varied scenery and trail types. But, to fully enjoy a run and not be hindered or distracted by your apparel or equipment, means you need to spend time selecting the right gear for you.

That includes items such as:

  • Running leggings.
  • Trainers.
  • Training top.
  • Sports underwear.
  • Drinking bottle.
  • GPS activity tracker.
  • Sunglasses.
  • Hat.
  • Running bag or pouch.

While it looks like a long list, if you're a regular runner, they're all a worthwhile investment that you'll appreciate, particularly on your longer runs.

The Right Active Wear

Feeling comfortable while you run, means knowing the clothing you wear fits well, doesn't rub and doesn't constantly need adjusting or pulling up or down while you're on the move.

Of course, it's not always easy buying the right running gear for your body type and running style, but it doesn’t have to be an impossible mission either.

There's a huge range of styles and types of running gear, which means finding one that suits you should be a great adventure - and believe it or not, with a little effort. The same is true of your running shoes. You can get specialist shoes for trail running, sprinting and long distance. Or, if you're more of a recreational runner rather than a competitive one, a good pair of running shoes should suit most distances and trails you take on.

Activity Tracking

When you go on your runs, it always feels good to track your route, distance and performance. As you will know, there are many great apps available on smartphones for this very purpose. But, they're far from the only, or even best option, for your running ambitions. Activity watches are always improving. Or, you can use a good Handheld GPS system, that's purpose built for the job of finding, tracking, and measuring a route and how you perform while running.

The benefits of Handheld GPS systems include:

  • They're purpose made.
  • Strong and sturdy.
  • Have more reliable distance and elevation measurement.
  • Long lasting battery.
  • Track your run without affecting the battery of your smartphone.

In addition to those features, many handheld GPS units are now small enough to fit in an armband strap so you don't need to keep it in your hand.

Enjoy Your Run with the Right Equipment

Running can be about many things, but in most cases enjoyment tends to feature highly. Only you can know what equipment and tech will help keep your mind on the run and off any worries, so take the time to buy the right items that suit you best.

After all, if you’re not enjoying your run, then you need to make some changes to ensure nothing you're wearing or using is to blame.
